D.A.M.S

We are a group of retired men  who have formed a social club in the  Parish of St. Dominic's in Tallaght in Dublin. We are part funded by South Dublin County Council and part funded by a small subscription from the members. We are also affiliated to Active Retirement Ireland.

Our aim is to provide a club for retired men who want to do all the things that we never had time to do when we were in full time employment. Some of our guys have learned to use computers others have learned how to take great digital photographs. But whatever we do be it classes or day trips or overnight stays we always have great craic.

We are almost 5 years running, and with 45 members at present and growing   we are going from strength to strength.

We call our self's DAMS or Dominic's Active Men's Social.

We organise overnight stays with good hotel rates as in the photograph above  where we stayed in West Cork for two nights with breakfast and evening meal all organised by our events organiser Terry Leyden. Terry has handed over the mantle to a new outings sub committee,  They will take over from Terry and we thank him for all the marvelous outings he organised for us.

We now have a sub committee organising our outings it consists of Liam Hennessy John Donoghue and Pat Saunders and we wish them well for future endeavors.

We organise trips out to places of interest such as Kilmainham Gaol, Waterford Crystal, Belfast Titanic Experience, and many, many other places all over Ireland. We also organise free educational courses which are funded by the ETB such as Irish and Art. We also have among our ranks some skilled members who pass on their expertise in Chess / Digital Photography / Photo Shop and Computers to their fellow members through self run courses in the centre. We play Pitch & Putt every Tuesday morning up in the Bohernabreena  Pitch & Putt course.

We play games every Wednesday evening in St. Dominic's National  School hall between 7pm and 10pm, such  as Long Mat Bowls / Skittles /Darts / Table Tennis / Go For Life games and when the weather permits  outdoor boules on our new Boules Court  provided for us by S.D.C.C in the play space beside Dominic's Community Centre also a new and interesting outdoor  game from Finland called Molkki.

We also organise walks when weather permits.
