The DAMS Guitar Class

The DAMS guitar class is held every Tuesday from 1.00pm to 3.00 pm. In Dominic’s Community Centre and is for all stages of players from beginners up.  It is a very popular class running for approximately a year now and all pupils have gained terrific experience and advancement.

The change in the quality of play from the guitarists from then to now is fantastic.

It's a very relaxed and atmosphere and great craic as well as serious learning.

We've played several "Gigs" including an appearance on RTE’s Nationwide with Mary Kennedy when we played and sang 2 songs.  On a later visit to the centre Mary Kennedy informed us that the shows director said he was delighted with the music and in the Nationwide program he used our songs the start and end the Dominic's Community Centre segment of the show.  He referred to the music as "Bookends" for the programme so from then on, we were known as "The Bookends" we now had our band name.

We've also played for "The U.S Coastguard Cadets" when they visited us at our base in May 2016 in Dominic’s Community Centre for a great day of music and craic. There were several other gigs including for Dominic's lady’s club and also the children's Christmas party in the Centre plus at our Men’s Club prize giving evening.

We have also had a visit from "Eamonn Campbell" of "The Dubliners" and "The Dublin Legends".   Eamonn very kindly joined in with us and played his heart out and gave us great encouragement and entertainment. The seal of approval from a musical legend such as Eamonn means a lot to us.
